Marco Ugarte is a Sustainable Engineering PhD candidate at
Arizona State University (ASU), formerly accountable for the
ASU-CONACYT Fellowship Program at the Mexico and Latin America
Unit within the Office of the Vice President for Global Engagement
at ASU. He currently collaborates with the National Center
of Excellence associated to the Global Institute of Sustainability
at ASU.
Recognized worldwide with the 2005 APICS Student Chapter
Mentor Award, Marco collaborated as Vice President for Student
Chapters at the Mexico City Professional Chapter from 2003
to 2006. Under his tenure, the Tecnológico de Monterrey
(ITESM), APICS Student Chapter achieved the Platinum Designation
and several Donald W. Fogarty Paper Competition Awards at
the Undergraduate level.
Earning his APICS Certified in Production and Inventory
Management (CPIM) in 2003 and the Certified Quality Improvement
Associate (CQIA) designation from The American Society for
Quality (ASQ) in 2004, he also collaborated as Associate Professor
of the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at ITESM.
Marco holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial
and Systems Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Quality
and Productivity Systems, both by Tecnológico de Monterrey.
