Joyce Lewis has more than 21 years of experience in various
aspects of the high technology industry, and more than 11
years of experience in the art and science of education. Her
leadership experience spans the global business value chain
from strategy development, new product introduction, marketing,
and operations, and all aspects of Supply Chain Management.
Much of her career experience includes leading program implementations
for mega-growth manufacturers in high-tech industries, specifically
focused in both process development and employee education
programs. Through this, she has developed approaches to apply
formal and rigorous methods such as Project Management, Six
Sigma, and Lean.
Joyce recently managed Fixed Assets for the Higley Unified
School District, in addition to providing Instructional Technology
support and training at local Valley educational institutions.
Prior to this, Joyce was responsible for implementing worldwide
SAP Production & Planning (PP) and Materials Management
(MM) systems and training for Innovex, Inc., in her role as
SAP Business Analyst. In her role as Material Control Manager
for Three-Five Systems, Inc., she was responsible for establishing
materials management strategies to support business and production
plans for a growing $85M opto-electronic display manufacturer.
With 15 years supply chain management experience in the opto-electronics,
semiconductor, and flex-circuit industries, Joyce combines
knowledge of learning processes/pedagogy with real-world operations
management experience to maximize the learning process for
supply chain professionals.
Joyce is an active member on the APICS Phoenix Chapter Board
as well as a Chapter CPIM Certification Review Course Instructor;
she is designated as an APICS Master CPIM Instructor, Master
Instructor Training Instructor, Associate Global Sourcing
Instructor, and Associate Lean Enterprise Instructor. She
currently holds both APICS CPIM and ISM Certified Purchasing
Manager (C.P.M.) certifications, in addition to Arizona Teacher
certification and provisional Structured English Immersion
(SEI) endorsement for grades K-8. She represents the Chapter
at local educational institutions such as Arizona State University
and provides students with guidance on career paths related
to resource management, and is a Board Director for the Higley
Education Foundation.
Joyce was a Phoenix Chapter President (99-00) and led the
Chapter's management team to achieve the Chapter's first Citation
of Excellence award from the APICS Association. She is primarily
responsible for the updated APICS Phoenix Chapter website
and serves as the Chapter's Administrative Support function,
and recently served on the APICS Southwest District Staff
as the appointed Director of Education. Joyce is on the national
APICS Instructor Development Program (IDP) subcommittee, leading
the Learning Dynamics instructional series and Instructor
Professional Development Maintenance programs. In 2011, she
was accepted as a committee member for the APICS Chapter Minimum
Standards / Chapter Benchmarking & Reporting (CMS/C-BAR)
subcommittee.
Joyce has a Bachelor's of Science, Magna Cum Laude in Purchasing
and Logistics from Arizona State University, and received
the Outstanding Graduating Senior Award for both the Supply
Chain Management Department and for the College of Business
(now W.P. Carey School of Business), 1998. She also holds
a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from the University
of Phoenix, 2004. Joyce was nominated by students and selected
for inclusion in the “Who’s Who Among American
Teachers, 2007”. Based on evaluations and attendee feedback,
Joyce was selected as the APICS Phoenix Chapter "Instructor
of the Year" for 2010-2011 and 2007-2008 board years.
